A clinician's practical guide to UPPER EXTREMITY dry needling with an easy to follow full-color printed manual. This paperback version of United Dry Needling Education's upper extremity manual covers the upper extremity portion of the dry needling certification series specifically designed for Occupational Therapists and Certified Hand Therapists (CHT). Instead of chapters that are difficult to read, this book is presented as a follow along course manual which is easy to reference in the clinical environment. This book covers a variety of upper extremity muscles. The book also includes electrical dry needling treatment protocols for a variety of painful conditions encountered in an Occupational Therapist/CHT practice such as tennis elbow, shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, and De Quervain’s syndrome. Prior to each demonstration section, full color regional precautions are presented to ensure the clinician is aware of risks lurking beneath the skin. Each demonstration page also includes a scannable QR code that takes you to our YouTube channel where a demonstration video can be viewed. Also included in this book are a variety of logistical resources to help you implement dry needling into your practice such as dry needling documentation, informed consent forms, dry needling aftercare, Joint Commission considerations, and an example of a dry needling policy and procedure you can use in your clinic.Muscles include:Shoulder RegionIncluding deltoid, teres major, latissimus dorsi, and pectoralis majorUpper ExtremityBiceps brachii, brachialis, brachioradialis, triceps brachiiPeriscapular RegionMiddle trapezius, rhomboids, upper trapezius, and levator scapulaeRotator CuffIncluding supraspinatus, supraspinatus at the AC triangle, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularisLateral ForearmIncluding extensor carpi radialis longus, extensor carpi radialis brevis, extensor digitorum, and extensor carpi ulnarisMedial ForearmIncluding flexor carpi ulnaris, flexor digitorum superficialis, flexor digitorum profundus, flexor carpi radialis, and pronator teresHand Part OneIncluding abductor pollicis brevis, opponens pollicis, flexor pollicis brevis, abductor pollicis longus, and extensor pollicis brevisHand Part TwoIncluding abductor digiti minimi, dorsal interossei, and adductor pollicisAbout the author - Luke Bynum DPT, PhD, OCSDr. Luke Bynum is a Physical Therapist and Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and founder/lead instructor for United Dry Needling Education.
